HIKING AND CYCLING TRAILS
Idrija-Cerkno Alpine Trail
184-km long alpine trail leads across the varied terrain from Mt. Porezen to Mt. Javornik. It is marked with Knafelc blazes (red circle with a white dot inside). It is appropriate for everybody and can be hiked in every season, even winter if there is no snow. Slovenian Mountain Hiking Trail / Transverzala
This 617.4-km- and 37-day-long hiking track from Maribor to Ankaran runs across the majority of Slovenian mountain areas and includes the Idrija Municipality. It is the longest and most popular connecting route in Slovenia and one of the oldest trails in Europe and the world.
Via Alpina
The Red Trail leading from Trieste to Monaco consists of 161 stages or hiking trails and connects eight countries. The Slovenian part of the Red Trail runs across the dinaric mountain world of Nanos, Trnovo Forest Plateau and Idrija Hills, crosses the entirety of Julian Alps to lead to the Wurzen Pass in the Karawanks and cross over to Austria. The trail offers the hikers unique possibilities of seeing cultural, historical, and tourist attractions.
