Fishing

The beautiful and clean Idrijca River, flowing in the heart of the Upper Idrijca Landscape Park, is also a paradise for sport fishing enthusiasts thanks to its exceptional abundance of fish. Its jewel is the marble trout. In addition to the trout, the area of the Geopark is also home to grayling, rainbow trout, and river trout. Due to the introduction of river trout, the marble trout had almost disappeared in the past. Many years of careful breeding and investment in “pure-bred” marble trout have allowed them to make a comeback, yet hybrids between the two species can still be found in the waters.
