Meet Tonček and Živa

Živa and Tonček are explorers who take our youngest visitors on an adventure through the Idrija Geopark. With them, you will not be bored.

Živa is a curious explorer, always eager to learn. She loves to observe nature and explore rocks, animals and plants. She always asks a lot of questions and looks for answers on her adventures.

Tonček is also an explorer, he loves to spend time outside and is a quite the book worm. What he and Živa cannot find in nature, he looks for in books.

Together they make a great team and there isn’t a mystery in nature that they couldn’t solve. Join them on their quest through the Idrija Geopark.

Adventures for Young Explorers

Together with their parents, our youngest visitors can explore the geological characteristic of the Idrija Geopark on themed playgrounds in Idrijska Bela and at Hleviše mountain hut. They were built so that children can learn about the variety of rocks in our geopark in a fun and playful way.

At Lajšt in Idrijska Bela, the playground “Explore the Riverbank” is located. There, you will find popular children board games made of natural stone. Children can pick up the game pieces used for the game at the nearby riverbank.

There is another playground at the Hleviše mountain hut called “Among rocks and flowers”. It features a collection of every rock that can be seen on the surface in Idrija Geopark. They are set among the playground equipment, which enables to children to learn about them in a playful way.

Geopark Colouring Books

Tonček and Živa helped us prepare a few colouring books for our youngest visitors. Some of them also feature short descriptions of the local sights that are drawn for children to colour. This is a good way of learning about geopark’s natural and cultural heritage. The colouring books are available here:
