Idrija Geopark carries out activities and prepares various teaching materials on the Geopark’s natural and cultural heritage for primary and secondary schools. We developed materials intended for science and other teachers which can be used outdoors as well as in the classroom.

Teaching Geology with Minecraft
Minecraft is one of the most popular video games worldwide and is well-received with people of all age groups. The goal of the game is to survive by building and creating. The player has to look for and harvest natural resources such as wood, stone, metals, and minerals.
In the BetterGeoEdu 2.0 project, the Geological Survey of Slovenia – together with their partners – developed a BetterGeo mod that incorporates a more realistic geology into the game and prepared teaching materials on geology and minerology connected to the Minecraft game and its BetterGeo mod.
Geopark Idrija joined the team aiming to promote the use of Minecraft-BetterGeo game in education and continually informs local school about current activities.
